I am a big fan of fake dogs. As you may know, I have 2 real dogs. The one I have is a border collie. I got her from my old man when I was a child. She was abandoned. I rescued her. She is my favorite. I have been her puppy forever. She is a little guy. She is very smart. She is my best friend. I have always been a dog person. I have always loved to play with my dogs.
Now I’m here to tell you a real dog story. This is my story of how I got my best friend. One day we were walking down the street. We went to a store and I bought this fake dog. She was an only dog. I can’t tell you what she was like. She had short hair and was really pretty. She was the cutest dog and we walked a circle a lot. She loved the big city and was super smart.
In her new life, she is now my best friend and I am the only one who ever really knows her. I mean I have to explain it is her words not mine but I do know that I have never stopped playing with her whenever I have walked by her.
The next day, we go to a park and she is all excited and happy and goes to run around the park. She is an only dog and the city is very loud so she is really excited and happy in the city but her ears are really scratchy. We walk past her at the park and she looks at me and goes, “Oh my!” and then she goes, “Oh my!” and I go, “Oh my!” and then she just sort of disappears.
I think I know what’s happening. You see, she’s just going to go away. That’s what I think but you never know.
In the trailer, you actually see Colt and his friends, including a pretty cute doggy named Doreen, talking to a fake dog named “Lois.” The dog has a dog face, but it has a real dog body, which is pretty cool.
Another of my pet peeves is this trope that we humans have of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. In reality, it just makes it so much easier for us to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. We’ve got this whole thing in our heads about what to do, and then it just happens.
It’s easy to forget that we are the same animal we are just in different places at the wrong times. We are not in the wrong place or at the wrong time, we are just here.
When I saw the trailer for real dog, I immediately thought of that scene in the movie The Matrix in which Neo and Neo’s companions are playing a game of “I Spy” where a fake dog is the object of the game. It’s one of my pet peeves that everyone seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
The way I’ve always thought about it is that we are all just this big ball of fur, and that’s it. We are all just this ball of fur that is moving at the same time. We move here and here and here and here, but really, the ball of fur is not really the same thing as us.
