So we can’t be self-aware because our thoughts (and beliefs) don’t come from us and are just the ideas in our mind.

This is something that I have seen many people struggle with. You know when you say that you are so aware of everything you do and you see yourself in a mirror and you are so aware of your own reflection? Well, this is what all the people with “self-awareness” are really talking about. It’s not just about the way you act. It’s about how you are feeling and thinking in your mind.

The problem with this notion, is that you have to be self-aware to be aware of your own mind. A lot of people have trouble understanding that because their entire life is based around other people. It is difficult to see yourself as you are without the influence of other people.

In this episode of the show, the question of self-awareness was directly addressed. In fact, the concept of a self-awareness test was introduced. In it, players were asked to think about themselves for a moment and then see if they believed they could be this person, without changing their own mind. The results of this test showed that the self-awareness test was more powerful than any of the other tests on its own.

By now, most of us know the concept of self-awareness: If you can remember that you are this person, you are this person. So this new test showed that it was actually a lot harder to achieve this state of mind without the influence of other people. This is very important, because we know that as humans we are often very influenced by our social environment.
